After my school visit yesterday at Lincoln Elementary School in Oglesby, IL, I received an email with some very important questions from a kindergarten class.

THE EMAIL
Hi!
Our class really enjoyed your visit today and learned a lot! We have a few questions for you and would appreciate you taking the time to answer them.
How many books have you written?
Do you have a Christmas tree?
How are books made?
Why do we sing Frosty the Snowman?
Why are you so good at writing books?
Where do you live?
Thank you!

MY ANSWERS
How many books have you written?
I have written about 40 stories. Most of them are on my computer and have not become books. I have 8 books published, though I only talk about the 3 “Snowman Vs.” books at schools.
Do you have a Christmas tree?
Yes, my family has a beautiful Christmas tree in our library room. I’m kind of a bah humbuggy guy, so I put the tree up but don’t help my wife and kids do the decorating.

How are books made?
My stories are written and illustrated on my computer and then made into books at a printing company.
Here is a link to a video that I found that shows another author’s book being printed by big giant printers. So cool!

Why do we sing Frosty the Snowman?
Have you ever tried singing Frankie the Snowman or Bob the Snowman? Those songs do not sound very good, which is why we sing Frosty the Snowman.
Why are you so good at writing books?
Practice! Plus more practice! Followed by more practice!
(And thanks, that’s a very nice question.)

Where do you live?
I often live in my imagination, making up silly and giggly stories for kids like you.
But I also live in Yorkville, IL in this house:
